A few months ago, my friend Laura (a pilot for UPS) called me to tell me some wonderful news..she was pregnant with her 2nd child and wanted me to come out to Denver to photograph her maternity session! Of course I was ecstatic for her, Pete (her husband and FAA investigator) and Jack (their one year old son). I couldn’t wait to get out there and see them and photograph their session….Then Laura told me the other news…Pete had been diagnosed with Neurosarcoidosis, a disease that is life threatening and incurable. I was heartbroken and devastated for her, her family and her unborn child. We booked the tickets right away and I left for Denver August 3rd.

During the time I was waiting to leave for Denver I was thinking about how I could make this family session special for them. I wanted to document their time together and focus on family and the love they share for each other. As soon as I arrived I knew that Jack was the center of their universe and the love they have for him is so beautiful.

I spent the week documenting this family, following them around with my camera, as they lived their everyday lives. From taking Jack to swimming lessons to going to the doctor, to the evening walks they shared after dinner, I was there capturing those moments. I got a real insight to what living with an 18 month old was like for Pete and Laura at this stage in their lives. They are such amazing parents and such an inspiration to so someone who doesn’t have children yet!

I want to share some of the images I captured through out the week for this family. It was such an honor to spend the week with them and document these memories for them.
